How is the Nifty Midcap 100 Calculated?
The formula to compound the Nifty midcap 100 is as follows:
Free float market capitalisation= Investable Weight Factor (IWF) x Price x Shares Outstanding
You will be able to calculate the index value using this formula:
Index Value= Free float market capitalisation current rate/ Free float market capitalisation of the base index x Base value of the index
The investable weight factor refers to the number of shares accessible for the public to trade generally. These shares are not held by entities or groups with a strategic or a controlling interest in the organisation. When the IWF is high, the proportion of the shares held by the investors under the public category is also high.
The base index value refers to an arbitrary number that indicates the original value of the index. In the case of the Nifty midcap 100 stocks list, the base value of the index is 1000.
Factors Affecting Nifty Midcap 100
As already mentioned, the midcap 100 index includes 100 constituents whose securities are traded in the stock market. Therefore, the index can be affected by multiple factors, which are as follows:
● Inflation
● Gross Domestic Product Data
● International Markets
● Interest Rates
● Gold Prices
● Industrial Production Data
● The volatility of fuel prices
● Government function and political stability
Any changes in these factors can have a massive impact on the entire stock market along with the indices in it. For instance, the Reserve Bank of India announces changes in interest rates. In that case, the cost of borrowing will automatically increase. It means several companies need to cut back their expenses or lay off workers to make up for the higher interest rates. All these factors can create volatility in the market and change the Nifty midcap 100 share price.

What does NIFTY Smallcap 100 exactly mean?
The NIFTY Smallcap 100 Index was developed to showcase the actions and results of the stock market’s small-capitalization sector. One hundred companies that are traded and listed on a stock exchange make up the NIFTY Smallcap 100 Index.
Should I consider Smallcap for long-term investment?
For more than an extended period of time, small-cap mutual funds exhibited strong performance. They are, though, frequently quite unstable for a brief period. Therefore, you run the risk of losing money whenever you decide to redeem or withdraw the investments early. Yes, you can generate profit, but the risk will always be there.
Does Nifty 100 come with any criteria?
The free-float market capitalization approach is used for determining the Nifty 100. Here, every stock’s total free float market value is indicated by the index level, which relates to a given base market capitalization value.
In what ways do companies get selected for Nifty?
A share must consistently feature a financial impact value below 0.50% while conducting NIFTY 50 deals of Rupees (INR) 10 crores to be eligible for listing in the NIFTY 50. On June 12, 2000, the NSE, or the National Stock Exchange of India Limited, started trading derivatives with future stock indexes.
What is the number of sectors present in Nifty 100?
The top 100 firms, as determined by the full market capitalization out of the Nifty 500, are represented by the diverse 100-stock index known as Nifty 100, which covers all key economic sectors.
Why should I opt for a small-cap value?
There’s no denying that smaller, inexpensive businesses have a higher failure rate than large firms. But compared to purchasing a specific large-cap stock, making investments in a small-cap value underlying asset is significantly safer. Additionally, it is probably going to result in better returns.
