List of top 5 gainers and losers in the midcap and smallcap segment for the week from February 10, 2022 to February 16, 2023.

The frontline index S&P BSE Sensex finished higher by 1.05% or 636.81 points during the week and closed at 61,319.51 on February 16, 2023.

However, S&P BSE Midcap stood flat during the week, slightly declining by 0.08% and closing at 24,870.57. The S&P BSE Smallcap also ended at 28,112.76 declining 0.53%.

The biggest gainer in the mid-cap segment for the week was Finolex Cables Ltd. The shares of this leading telecom and electrical cable manufacturer rose by 19.08% for the week from the levels of Rs 562.75 to Rs 670.15. Finolex Cables touched its 52-week high during the week after announcing strong quarterly performance for the quarter that ended on December 31, 2022. Consolidated revenue jumped by 18% to Rs 1,150 crore while net profit increased by 8% to Rs 154 crore on a YoY basis.

The top 5 losers from the Midcap segment for this week are as follows:

The laggards of the midcap segment were led by Allcargo Logistics Ltd. Shares of this logistics company fell by 17% from Rs 411.35 to Rs 341.4. The fall was led by the company’s below-par quarterly performance for the quarter that ended on December 31, 2022. Consolidated revenue declined by 27% and stood at Rs 4,099 crore, while net profit shrunk 56% to Rs 157 crore on a YoY basis.

The top gainer in the smallcap segment was Nucleus Software Exports Ltd. The shares of this company rose by 36.41% for the week from the levels of Rs 399.15 to Rs 544.5. Nucleus Software Exports hit a new 52-week high while finishing in the upper circuit during the week. The rally was on account of a strong quarterly performance of the company.

The top 5 losers in the Smallcap segment for this week are as follows:

The losers of small-cap space were led by EKI Energy Services Ltd. The shares of EKI Energy Services fell from Rs 1097.15 to Rs 568.8 registering a loss of 48.16% in the stock price. The fall of this multibagger stock was led after its new auditor, Walker Chandiok & Co, highlighted likely non-compliance with specific accounting standards and revenue recognition norms of the company.
