List of top 5 gainers and losers in the midcap and smallcap segment for the week from December 09 to December 15, 2022.

The frontline index S&P BSE Sensex declined 0.62% or 382.64 points during the week and closed at 61,799.03 on December 16, 2022.

The fall was broad-based during the week with S&P BSEMid Cap closing flat, up by 0.08% at 26,115.55. However, the S&P BSE SmallCap ended at 29,802.29 gaining 0.82%.

The biggest gainer in the mid-cap segment for the week was Punjab & Sind Bank. Shares of this public sector bank rose by 25.7% for the week from the levels of Rs 33.85 to Rs 42.55. The stock has been in the upper circuit and has rallied more than 100% in a month.

The top 5 losers from the Midcap segment for this week are as follows:

 The laggards of the midcap segment were led by Sonata Software Ltd. The shares of this Indian information technology service company fell 8.99% from Rs 594.5 to Rs 541.05. Sonata Software Limited has recently announced the completion of the merger between Interactive Business Information Systems Inc, a step-down subsidiary company, and Sonata Software North America, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sonata Software Limited.

 The top gainer in the smallcap segment is Andrew Yule & Company Ltd. Shares of this industrial conglomerate rose by 21.71% for the week from the levels of Rs 25.80 to Rs 31.40. Shares of Andrew Yule & Company Ltd were trading near its 52-week high this week.

 The top 5 losers in the Smallcap segment for this week are as follows: 

The losers of small cap space were led by Fineotex Chemical Ltd. The shares of this speciality chemical manufacturer fell from Rs 308.95 to Rs 261.25 registering a loss of 15.44% in the stock price.
