Nifty 50 opened higher on Monday, supported by solid global trends. In this post, we have highlighted the top stocks that are experiencing a solid price volume breakout.
On Monday, Nifty 50 opened the new week at 18,118.45, up from its Friday closing of 18,027.65. This happened as a result of strong global trends. The leading Wall Street indices concluded higher on Friday, owing to a strong earnings report.
On Friday, Nasdaq Composite increased by 2.66%, Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 1%, and S&P 500 index soared by 1.89%. On a weekly basis, Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 both fell 2.7% and 0.7%, respectively.
Nasdaq Composite, on the other hand, surged 0.6% over the last week. Following the strong global trends, nearly all Asian indices advanced on Monday. Except for Australia's S&P ASX 200, all other indices were in the green, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng leading the way.
Nifty 50 was trading at 18,140.65 at 10:45 a.m., up 113 points or 0.63%. Frontline indices, on the flip side, outperformed broader market indices. Nifty Mid-Cap 100 index was up 0.13%, while Nifty Small-Cap 100 index fell 0.01%.
The advance-decline ratio on the BSE was somewhat positive, with 1762 stocks rising, 1559 falling, and 191 staying unchanged. Aside from metals and realty, all other sectors traded in the green.
According to January 20 statistics, FIIs were net sellers while DIIs were net purchasers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold Rs 2,002.25 crore worth of shares. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) invested Rs 1,509.95 crore in shares.
