Nifty 50 opened flat with positive bias despite muted global cues. In this article, we have listed the top stocks witnessing a solid price volume breakout.
Nifty 50 opened flat with a positive bias on Tuesday at 17,922.8 as against its previous close of 17,894.85. This was despite muted global cues. Wall Street remained closed on Monday on account of Martin Luther King Jr Day.
However, Dow Jones and Nasdaq 100 futures were trading flat with a negative bias. On Tuesday, Asian peers declined amid weak Chinese economic data and fear of the global economy inching towards recession. Apart from Japan’s Nikkei 225 index and Australia’s S&P ASX 200 index, all other Asian indices traded in the red.
At 10:40 a.m., Nifty 50 was trading at 18,020.4, up by 125.55 points or 0.7%. Broader market indices, on the other hand, underperformed frontline indices. Nifty Mid-Cap 100 index traded up by 0.01% and Nifty Small-Cap 100 index gained 0.19%.
On BSE, the advance-decline ratio was slightly positive with 1747 stocks advancing, 1408 declining and 195 remaining unchanged. On the sectoral front, apart from media, metal and pharma, all other sectors traded in the green.
According to the data as on January 16, FIIs were net sellers and DIIs were net buyers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold shares to the tune of Rs 750.59 crore. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 685.96 crore. On a month-till-date (MTD) basis, FIIs were net sellers selling shares worth Rs 18,169.67 crore and DIIs were net buyers purchasing shares worth Rs 13,484.62 crore.
