Changes in Price Bands effective from August 07, 2023

The NSE has announced a slew of changes to price bands for listed stocks. These changes to price bands will be effective from August 07, 2023. Price bands are set at different levels of 2%, 5%, 10%, 20% etc to contain the volatility in the stock price in a single day. Here are some of the highlights of price bands as they stand today.
- Out of 2,313 stocks listed on the NSE, a total of 187 stocks that are available for F&O trading are not subject to any price bands, except for the bands at an index level.
- A total of 1,543 stocks on the NSE are subject to price bands at the rate of 20% while a total of 87 stocks are subjected to price bands at the rate of 10% either ways.
- In addition, a total of 420 stocks are subjected to price bands at the rate of 5% either ways while 75 stocks in the list are subjected to price band of just 2%.
Normally, higher the volatility risk in the stock, the lower is the price band range permitted. Let us now turn the major price band changes effected on August 07, 2023.

A total of 109 stocks have seen price band changes effective August 07, 2023 and such price band changes can either be on the upside or on the downside.
