Bajaj Finance Limited (BFL) is a subsidiary of Bajaj FinServ, an Indian non-banking financial company headquartered in Pune. Rahul Bajaj founded it, and it is a deposit-taking company registered with RBI. It is in the business of lending and accepting deposits. BFL caters to different sectors like auto, retail, SMEs etc. It accepts public and corporate deposits and offers a variety of financial services products to its customers.
It focuses mainly on the following categories:
1. Consumer finance (finance required for lifestyle and digital products)
2. Digital products finance
3. EMI card & retail EMI
4. 2&3 wheeler finance
5. Personal loan and loan against FD
6. Gold and home loan
7. E-Commerce with Co-Branded credit card
Its operations are spread across nine product lines, Bajaj Finance Ltd is focused on consumer, SME and commercial lines of business. BFL has a wide distribution network, as it is present in 1997 locations with 102600+ active points of sale.
The 32 year old NBFC is focused on affluent clients with a strategy to cross sell. It focuses on deposits acceptance and fee product distribution, the company is present in 944 urban locations and 951 rural locations in India with over more than 97,000 distribution points. It enjoys a large customer franchise of 38.70 MM with loans cross sell franchise of 22.78 MM.
On March 25th, 1987, a non-banking financial company with the main motive of financing two or three-wheelers was originally incorporated as Bajaj Auto Finance Limited. After successfully sustaining the competitive market for 11 years, BAFL launched its public issue of equity shares and was listed on NSE and BSE. Later it ventured into consumer durables finance and diversified its operations to business and property loans.
On 5th March 1998, it registered as a deemed public company in RBI as a Non-Bank Company. They kept opening their branches both in urban and rural settings of India. Later in 2004-2005, they opened Loan shops aspiring to enhance their direct marketing and create their brand awareness. Within a couple of years, they had around 113 branches all across the country. In 2010, the name was changed from BAFL to BFL, Bajaj finance limited.
Further, they had an alliance with One Mobikwik Systems Private Limited which aided their business and strengthened their operations.
In 2017, it featured amongst the top 18 best employers in India 2017 by Aon Hewitt. It was also awarded as India’s leading NBFC, Non-Banking Financial Company and The Mint Corporate Strategy Award for excellence in corporate governance.
Presently the company has 294 consumer branches and 497 rural locations with more than 33000+ distribution points.
